When to Take Your Senior Photos in Washington (Month-by-Month)

A month-by-month breakdown of when to schedule senior portraits in the South Sound — fall color, spring blossoms, summer beaches, and what to avoid.

When to Take Your Senior Photos in Washington (Month-by-Month)

South Sound senior portraits look different every month of the year. Here's what to expect from each window — and which one fits your style.

Spring (April–June)

Cherry blossoms peak early-to-mid April at the Capitol. Wildflowers carpet the Yelm prairie May–June. Soft, romantic galleries with pastel tones.

Summer (July–August)

Long golden hours, beach access, late ceremonies. Schedule sessions 90 minutes before sunset (around 8pm).

Fall (September–October)

The marquee senior season. Color peaks mid-October in the South Sound. Book by mid-July — fall fills first.

Winter (November–March)

Underrated. Bare trees, moody light, indoor + studio options. Galleries feel cinematic and editorial.

"The best month for your senior photos is the one that matches the version of you that year."
