How to choose a Tacoma wedding photographer
Updated November 1, 2026
Photos are one of the few things you keep after the day. Here's how to compare photographers without getting lost in package jargon.
Look at full galleries, not highlights
Anyone can post 10 great photos. Ask for two or three complete wedding galleries — ideally one in mixed or low light, like an indoor reception.
Questions to ask
- How many hours are included, and what does overtime cost?
- Is a second shooter included?
- How many edited images, and how long until delivery?
- Do you carry backup cameras and dual memory cards?
- Do you have liability insurance? (Many venues require it.)
- What's in the contract if you're sick or can't attend?
Red flags
- No written contract
- Can't show complete galleries
- Pressure to pay in full immediately
- Vague delivery timelines
Common questions
How many hours of photography do I need?
Many couples book 6–8 hours to cover getting ready through the first part of the reception. Small weddings and elopements often need 2–4.
